Hey guys, apologies for my recent decrease in posts, been trying to adjust to my new schedule and I believe I am gradually getting the hang of it but your prayers will still be much appreciated.
Genesis 12:1-7 Amp
1 Now [in Haran] the Lord had said to Abram,
“Go away from your country,
And from your relatives
And from your father’s house,
To the land which I will show you;
2 And [a]I will make you a great nation,
And I will bless you [abundantly],
And make your name great (exalted, distinguished);
And you shall be a blessing [a source of great good to others];
3 And I will bless (do good for, benefit) those who bless you,
And I will curse [that is, subject to My wrath and judgment] the one who curses (despises, dishonors, has contempt for) you.
And in you all the families (nations) of the earth will be blessed.”
4 So Abram departed [in faithful obedience] as the Lord had directed him; and Lot [his nephew] left with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran. 5 Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his nephew, and all their possessions which they had acquired, and the people (servants) which they had acquired in Haran, and they set out to go to the land of Canaan. When they came to the land of Canaan, 6 Abram passed through the land as far as the site of Shechem, to the [great] terebinth (oak) tree of Moreh. Now the [b]Canaanites were in the land at that time. 7 Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “I will give this land to your descendants.” So Abram built an altar there to [honor] the Lord who had appeared to him.
Genesis 13:14-15Amp
The Lord said to Abram, after Lot had left him, “Now lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are standing, northward and southward and eastward and westward; 15 for all the land which you see I will give to you and to your descendants forever.
While I was studying my Bible earlier, I was looking at the life of Abraham as I am interested in learning what about him gave him titles like Father of Faith, Friend of God, etc and I came across something that made my eyes a little bit wet.
In Genesis 12:1( please read or just read full post that includes the passage through the link above), God gave him instructions.
1. Go away from your country.
2. Go away from your relatives
3. Go away from your Father’s house
4. Go to the land I will show you.
And God promised him some really heavy stuffs in verse 2 and 3 in exchange for his obedience. Abram (was still his name at this stage) showed a remarkable level of faith; he left the country, his father’s house and was heading to a land God will show him. Tbh I was almost clapping when I saw this, like an unseen being says leave everything and go to where I will show you(without any knowledge of the area, not even name of the land) and he left, I was like “no wonder he’s referred to as the Father of faith”. Sadly, his obedience was partial.
Even though he obeyed every other thing, the promises were delayed because of just one tiny disobedience. God told him to leave his relatives but the Bible tells us in vs 4 that Lot, the son of his brother left with him. This changed everything because God still directed him to the land but in vs 7, the land Abram was to settle in, God modified his promise to ‘I will give your descendants.’ just because of one tiny disobedience. If we race down to Genesis 13vs14, that was when lot eventually left Abram and the first the God told him was that he will give him and his descendants the land he is showing him forever. Did you see what happened there? He was included back in the promise.
I would like you to think and pray that God should be merciful over your life if there’s anything He has asked you to drop but you are still holding on to or any form of disobedience that has held his promises over your life from being fulfilled and DROP IT.
God bless and Have a great weekend!
